Law reforms

The Law Commission creates programmes containing proposals to reform a wide range of laws. We break these down into specific projects that our teams work through. We also identify areas of the law that would benefit from being consolidated and repealed. Finally, we work collaboratively so that our recommendations are implemented into statute.

Programmes

Periodically, we submit a new programme that proposes reforms to a number of different areas of the law. Read how we create them along with details of past programmes.

Law repeals

As part of our reforming work, we propose repealing laws that have become obsolete. Discover the benefits of repealing laws and read earlier reports detailing of our recommendations.

Implementing law reforms

Only Parliament is able to change the law so we work collaboratively to ensure our recommendations are implemented. So far, over two thirds of our proposals have made it into statute.
