The Law Commission’s Annual Report 2025-2026 and Business Plan 2026-2027

The Law Commission’s Annual Report 2025-26 and Business Plan 2026-27 are published today.

The annual report highlights the work of the Law Commission from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.

During this period, a significant amount of law reform and related activities were delivered.

Some examples are:

  • Two Law Commission bills were enacted (the Arbitration Act 2025 and Property (Digital Assets etc) Act 2025).
  • A number of Law Commission criminal justice recommendations were included in the Courts and Tribunals Bill.
  • The 14th Programme of Law Reform was laid before Parliament.
  • A total of ten reports and consultations were published.
  • The appointment of two new Commissioners
  • The appointment of the first Special Counsel for Wales, to support longer-term work on Welsh law reform.
