Lawyers

Introduction to the role

The Law Commission plays a central role in Government but remains independent of it. This unique position means that working as a lawyer on law reform projects with us is different to many other jobs in the legal profession.

By joining us, you’ll have the chance to work on some of the most important and difficult questions facing society today. Our legal teams work on a wide-range of projects, from emerging environmental issues to cutting edge challenges around the use of Artificial Intelligence in policy.

We look for innovative lawyers with a wide range of legal experience along with strong research and writing skills to join our teams. However, the role is more diverse and wide-ranging than many corporate ones as you will be expected to take a lead in areas such as policy making and legislative procedure.

The work we do is stimulating and of high quality but takes place in a culture that is friendly and collegiate. It enables you to make a positive difference to society, offers you access to outstanding development opportunities as well as an improved work-life balance.
