Completed projects

Once we have submitted a final report, our project is completed. After this, our recommendations are discussed by Government before they are put before Parliament.

Our most recent completed projects are listed here but you can view all projects completed by the Law Commission between 1966 and 2024.

Electronic trade documents

The Law Commission published a report with draft legislation which would implement its recommendations to allow for the legal recognition of trade documents such as bills of lading and bills of exchange in electronic form. The recommendations were implemented in the Electronic Trade Documents Act 2023, which came into force in September 2023.
