We published a scoping paper on decentralised autonomous organisations (“DAOs”) on 11 July 2024, which considers how DAOs can be characterised and identifies current issues around DAOs to inform any future law reform or innovations.
Corporate criminal liability
The Law Commission has published an options paper for the Government on how it can improve the law to ensure that corporations are effectively held to account for committing serious crimes. The Government has introduced legislation informed by some of the options we set out.”
Intermediated securities
The Law Commission published a scoping paper on intermediated securities on 11 November 2020, identifying issues concerning investors and businesses for potential future review.

Contempt of court: juror misconduct and internet publications
This project is complete. Our recommendation for a new criminal offence for jurors conducting prohibited research was implemented by section 71 of the Criminal Justice and Courts Act 2015.
Insanity and automatism
We published a discussion paper on 23 July 2013 with our provisional proposals for reform of the defences of insanity and automatism, based on lack of capacity.
Contempt of court: contempt in the face of the court
Work on this project is currently suspended. We have no immediate plans to resume this work, although it will be periodically reconsidered for possible inclusion in our forward programme.
